This week just two baskets, but all counts, I have two more. I like my baskets, but when I look at Barb and Alma's in When The Cold Wind Blows, I think the quilt looks warmer, but they have used more orange, I think.
The third row of stars of Guute's quilt is done, the last eight stars are nearly finished, after that I can put a border to it and begin the following row, which will be quicker to make. After that I'll have to see wheather I will have it bigger or not and if I have enough fabric left to make more.
Today I found a little time to look at The Chrismas Wish, Dear Jane friend Ria B. advised me to put small borders of the red plaid, because the result of it did not suit me, and after that to put the last green leftover fabric to it. That suits me better and now I took half of the plaid fabric of it.
When I was behind the computer this afternoon, Danny, our eldest grandson, wrote: "hi grandpa". He and Mark, his younger brother, wanted to come by. Grandpa was to a bridge-drive, but they should be there at three. There they came, the motor-mice, Mark behind his older brother, big helms on their heads. Because I was making pictures today, I made some from them as well in front of a quilt. Unfortunately the best one is not there anymore, I think, (my fault). So boys, if you see this, SORRY!
At the moment I am reading The Lost Quilter by Jennifer Chiaverini. I have the whole "Elm Creek"series, but one, about the kitchen. I heard that is is not worth while to buy, and because the books are not in the bookshops here, I cannot see if it is true. I like the ones which are in the present most, about Sylvia, the tutors and campers. But this one is very good too, about Joanna, a slave and how bad the slaves were treated then. Joanna dreams about being free and patches a "Birds In The Air"quilt to remember the way she once went from the farm of Hans, Gerda and Anneke, the ancestors of Sylvia and to go back to her firstborn, which she had to leave there when slavecatchers found her. It describes the way white people thought of black people, that they had no feelings of love and affection, so it was not a pity they treated them as animals. And worse!
Volgende keer zal ik een foto maken van het kleine Bobbin quiltje dat ik aan het maken ben, daar heb ik vergeten een foto van te maken.
Next time I shall not forget to make a picture of the little snowman quilt I am making.
Groetjes/greetings,
Cisca
